QUETTA: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt General Abdul Qadir Baloch has said Afghan refugees would be sent to their homes voluntary by Dec 2015. He dispelled the impression that Afghan refugees return o Pakistan after repatriation.
Speaking to media here Monday General Qadir Baloch said repartition of Afghan refugees is linked to situation in their country. If law and order improves their Afghan refugees would return with pleasure.
Federal Minister said that Government of Pakistan has provided possible facilities to Afghan refugees at their camps but now they were being provided assistance by NGOs. He said still nearly three million Afghan refugees were staying in Pakistan.
Answering a question about purchase of properties in Pakistan by Afghan refugees Qadir Baloch said a committee headed by him has been constituted which would prepare recommendations in this connection and take steps to prevent it.
He said 500 million dollars programmes have been launched in areas where Afghan refugees camps existed for rehabilitation of people and doing away with negative impacts under RAHA programme. It would soon yield good results.
Answering another question Abdul Qadir Baloch said situation would further deteriorate in Afghanistan following withdrawal of ISAF forces in 2014 and Afghan refugees could not return to their homes. He said Afghan government was sure it would tackle its matters amicably. But it is internal matter of Afghanistan.
Later minister chaired a meeting in which matter of voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees was discussed in detail. Commissioner Afghan refugees Hafiz Muhammad Tahir and others also attended.
