KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Monday said that long standing issues of promotion of doctors has been resolved and so far 1039 doctors from grade 17 to grade 20 have been promoted.
This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office. He said that 616 doctors from grade 17 to grade 18, 344 doctors from grade 18 to grade 19 while 79 doctors from 19 to grade 20 including special cadre had been given promotions and now only eligible officers of grade 20 would be posted at important posts.
He said corruption has been eliminated in transfer/ posting of doctors. He said transfer and posting are being made on merit. He said that a group of corrupt officials who were found in selling of medicines from government hospitals in districts Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Ghotki had been nabbed and FIRs had been lodged against them.
Jam Mehtab said that having completed inquiry against corrupt officials, their cases had been referred to anti-corruption and corruption cases in vertical programs like Hepatitis, Primary Health Care, National Programme for population were being sorted out on priority basis. He said that anti-snake venom was available throughout Sindh province especially flood affected districts.
Minister for Health was pretty sure that everyone had to go through accountability process and no political pressure would be tolerated. Government hospitals are being made better and it is being ensured that medicines should be given to all patients. ‘Corruption in procurement of medicines had been eradicated and transparent process is being adopted in this regard’ he concluded.
