2 towers of 220 kv double circuit transmission line collapse

QUETTA: Entire Balochistan getting electricity form Grid system was deprived of supply since Wednesday-Thursday night.

Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) Spokesperson said that two towers of 220 kv double circuit transmission line collapsed due to strong winds and rains between Dera Murad Jamali and Sibi last night. With the result supply of electricity suspended to Sibi, Bola, Quetta, Pishin, Chaman, Killa Abdullah, Mastung, Kalat, Noshki and Chagai areas. Additional load shedding was being made in Quetta and other districts due to closure of 220 kv double circuit transmission line. Quetta city and affected districts were being fed through alternative sources.

Spokesperson added that repair of 220 kv towers would be undertaken by National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) soon. As soon as repair is complete additional load shedding from this transmission line would be ended.

It is added here that electricity suspended 12 midnight. Fasting public was facing great difficulties due to continued suspension of electricity supply.
