Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 57% Pakistanis believe that the amount of tax in the country is more than necessary; 25% think it is satisfactory.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “In your opinion, is the amount of tax in country is more than necessary, is less or is satisfactory?” Responding to this, 57% Pakistanis said the amount of taxes was more than necessary, 25% think it was satisfactory and 14% think it is less than necessary. 4% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2705 men in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during June 09 – June 16, 2014.Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
