KARACHI: Seven criminals including five alleged terrorists belonging to banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in separate encounters on Saturday in different parts of Karachi.
Crime Investigation Department (CID) shot dead two Taliban terrorists in an encounter at Mauripur area of the city. Law enforcement agencies took action against the militants after they received information about their presence in the area. Weapons were recovered from their possession.
In another targeted operation, three TTP militants were gunned down in an encounter at Ghaghar Railway Crossing in Bin Qasim Town. Police recovered weapons from their possession.
According to a spokesman, Rangers conducted a raid on a tip off in Bin Qasim. He said the suspects opened fire and hurled hand grenades. Three accused were killed when the Rangers returned fire. Weapons were also recovered during the raid.
In another raid conducted by law enforcement agencies, two suspects were killed in a late night operation by in Lyari area.
Heavy contingents of police entered the different areas and killed the accused in encounter.
Identity of the dead was yet to be ascertained. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
