70 encounters took place during a month in Larkana Division: DIG

LARKANA: As many as 70 police encounters took place in a month in entire five districts of Larkana Division in which 10 criminal gangs were busted, six criminals killed and 16 others arrested in injured condition, claimed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana Range, Abdullah Shaikh here on Wednesday.

These districts include, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore @ Kandhkot and Larkana. While talking to reporters he said that 98 criminals, 495 proclaimed offers and 1005 fugitives of law were also arrested, adding that nine hand grenades, two kg explosive material, 12 KK rifles, four rifles, 53 guns, 67 pistols, 500 bullets and 34 kg hashish were also recovered from their possession.

DIGP further said that two inspectors had also been demoted for their failure to curb crime and negligence in performing government duty, one ASI and five cops have also been suspended on almost same charges. He said that crackdown against criminals will continue in the entire Larkana division, adding that they had achieved success so far.

On the other hand, the DIGP directed all the SSPs of his range to obtain applications for appointment on son quota as per existing rules and deposit the same in his office within 10 days so that bonafide cases could be recommended to IGP for appointment. Meanwhile, overall crime rate has decreased in Larkana district during 2015 in comparison to 2014 as 2347 various criminal acts were reported in 2014 and in 2015, these incidents have magically reduced to 1803, a difference of 544 cases, sources revealed.

As many as 105 encounters took place in the district during 2015 in which two criminals were killed, five were injured, 160 apprehended, 22 gangs busted, 301 proclaimed offenders and 1548 offenders of law were arrested. Four Kalashnikov rifles, three rifles, 26 revolvers, 198 pistols, 51 shot guns, 552 rounds and 174 cartridges were also recovered. Six cars, 47 motorcycles and four other vehicles were also recovered during 2015. 50 grams opium, 634 grams heroin, 87 kg hashish, about 360 kg cannabis and eight bottles of wine were also confiscated.
