75 beds to be added soon in Services Hospital


Karachi: Medical Superintendent (MS) Services Hospital Karachi Dr Muhammad Tofiqui on Tuesday said up to 75 beds would be added soon in his hosptal and with this addition it will house up 175 patients.

He told PPI here that presently Services Hospital houses up 100 patients and a new block of the hospital is near completion. He said similarly two departments of hospital are currently with the Civil Hospital Karachi and these departments would be handed over to service hospital after completion of Trauma Center. He said with the completion of new block and handing back of two departments the bed capacity would increase from 100 to 175 in near future.

He said hospital is providing health facilities to the government employees free of cost. He further said the attendance of Outpatient Department (OPD) has increased from 900 to 1000 per day. He said presently 100 consultant doctors and 300 paramedical staff are serving in the hospital. He informed that X-ray, Ultrasound, Echo facilities and medicines are available here.

Dr Tofiqui explained that Services Hospital is secondary healthcare which provides treatment facilities to thousands of provincial government employees every month. He said its eight satellites dispensaries are also operating in different areas of Karachi to provide healthcare facilities to employees. He said there is no shortage of medicine and staff in the hospitals as health department allocates sufficient funds.

He said gynecological, eye, medicines, paediatrics, vaccination, ophthalmology, orthopedic, and surgical facilities are available here.

He informed that the administration has also started polio certificates issuance facility for employees and general public. He said around 80 to 100 polio certificates are being issued daily. He said reimbursement certificates are also issued to employees who get treatment from private hospitals.

He said the number of OPD patients is increasing day by day and the administration written a letter to government for recruitment of junior doctors. He informed that the Medical Board of hospital also conduct medical tests of new recruits, issues certificates to disables, and employees seeking retirement on medical grounds. It also resolves the MLO challenged cases.

He said Sindh government employees should avail the facilities in this hospital.
