KARACHI: Dengue viral fever claimed the life of a woman in Karachi on Friday; increasing this year’s death toll from the viral disease to seven.
A 42-year old Nighat resident of Shah Faisal Colony area of Karachi died from dengue fever in a government sector medical university hospital during treatment. She was under treatment in the hospital for a week.
Health department sources confirmed that death of woman from dengue in the hospital. A total seven dengue patients had died from dengue viral fever since 1st January 2015.
At least 2450 dengue fever cases were reported from Karachi city since 1st January 2015 to till time.
Pathetically poor sanitary conditions, corruption, lack of planned fumigation and unavailability of proper facilities in government hospitals are some of the factors behind dengue onslaught in Karachi.
