KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Saqib Soomro on Tuesday directed department of anti-encroachment to expedite operation against encroachments in the city as the department failed to stop reemerging of encroachments in city.
“Hurdles from main roads and footpaths should be removed and paths be cleared for the ease of citizens,” he said during a meeting with the officers of anti-encroachment department.
He acknowledged that the encroachments were increasing the issues of vehicular traffic and needed special attention.
Meanwhile, under the supervision of Director Anti-encroachment Mazhar Khan, an operation was carried out in Federal B Area Gulberg Block 7. Several vendor carts, cabin shops, kiosks and illegally parked vehicles in front of denting/ painting shops were removed and stored. No resistance was faced during the operation, said spokesperson of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
Mazhar Khan said nobody should put people into trouble by establishing illegal encroachments and refrain from this act.
“Encroachments would be demolished, if reestablished. The person reestablishing encroachments would be responsible of consequence,” he said.
It should be noted that KMC has yet been failed to stop reestablishment of encroachments in the city under the influence of powerful mafia backed by political parties. Police and KMC employees are also patronizing such elements by taking bribe.
The spree of ongoing anti-encroachment actions on the orders of Sindh High Court in Saddar area have proved to be abortive as the encroachments do not take time to reemerge not in days but within hours every time they were removed or crushed. In fact most of the encroachers hide their belongings in streets on intelligence provided by KMC and police officials.
