Angry protesters attack Bilawal’s election campaign rally
KARACHI: Angry protesters on Sunday threw stones on the election campaign rally of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Lyari. Bilawal is contesting upcoming polls from NA-246 Lyari constituency.
Hundreds of people in Bihar Colony area of Lyari held a protest, stopped Bilawal’s rally and attacked it with stones. The angry mob also chanted slogans against the party for ignoring their areas of basic facilities of life. Bilawal’s driver escaped the scene by reversing the vehicle from the area. The stones smashed the windows of PPP Leader Nabeel Gabol. However, the rally changed its route.
Bilawal was accompanied by PPP leader Sherry Rehman and former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah. Over 20 angry people attacked the rally with stones. However, the police controlled the situation. Three party supporters also injured in the attack.
Earlier, Bilawal visited Lyari to kick off his election campaign in Lyari. Addressing PPP supporters on the ICI Bridge, he said that it was his first election campaign and the people of Lyari would support him.
