Karachi: Aqeel Shabbir became Sindh’s top ranked tennis player according to latest biannual rankings published by Sindh Tennis Association (STA).
The new ranking published counts the points achieved during the period January to June 2017 in Sindh Ranking Tournaments.
Aqeel accumulated 70 ranking points to top the ranking while Ibrahim Iltifat fell one place and he now sits at second position with 55 points.
In ladies singles, Hania Naveed, who was Sindh’s number one ranked player for over three years, has now been toppled by Sindh Games gold medalist Urooj Iltifat. Urooj accumulated 50 points to secure first position. Apsra Sheeraz secured position with 40 points.
In juniors 17 singles, Sahibzada Mohammad Ali has topped the ranking with 40 points followed by Nauman Aftab and Noor e Mustafa jointly in second position with 30 points each.
In Under 15 singles, Rayyan Jawwad has topped the ranking with 40 points followed by Hasheesh Kumar, who piled up 35 points.
In Under 13 singles, Mohammad Yahya Ehtisham topped the ranking with 70 points followed by Mahatir Mohammad and M. Farooq Atiq in second place with 40 points each.
Mahatir Mohammad and Hasan Jamal with 55 and 45 points hold first and second position respectively.
In Under 9 singles category, Mohammad Zain Ehtisham accumulated 80 points to sit on top followed by Hasan Jamal, who bagged 35 points.[related_post themes="text" id="316490"]
