KARACHI: The 10th meeting of Board of Governors of Preston University, Karachi, was presided over by Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Basit at a local hotel here on Thursday to review and approve different proposals and suggestions in the benefit of the university.
The Board also reviewed last year’s inspection conducted by Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) in the university and expressed satisfaction over the achievements of Preston University. The Board wished to continue for the development and improvement of the university in light of CIEC recommendations with the same spirit in future. Approval was also given to implement a uniform policy to capture international standards and educational schemes for the promotion of the university in collaborations with public-private partnerships.
In the meeting, options to set up new programs for youth and vocational training in the university in collaborations with government were discussed and the members of the BOG emphasized to bring in more efforts for research activities by the faculty members and to develop research culture in the university.
On the occasion, VC Dr Tahir delivered presentation on the achievements of the university pertaining to research work and public private partnerships for the betterment of University. Chancellor Basit showed satisfaction over the presentation and emphasized use of more social media tools to increase enrolment in all campuses. He said recent MoU with University of Karachi’s Chinese Confucius Institute was bilateral benefit in terms of job and business opportunities.
The members, who attended the meeting of BoG, included Preston University Karachi’s Pro-chancellor Justice (Retd) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tahir Rajput, Registrar Aftab Lodhi, Sindh government’s Additional Secretary Khuwaja Akram, Brigadier (Retd) Tariq Masood Khan and Preston University’s Faculty of Social Science’s Dean Dr Ibrahim Shah Bukhari.
