Children hospital’s upgrading completes next year
Karachi: Medical Superintendent, Sindh Government Children Hospital North Nazimabad Karachi Dr Asif Zaman on Thursday said construction work of new two-storied building in hospital is under way with financial assistance Japan and the project would be completed in January 2015.
Talking to media, he said that the children hospital was established in 2003 with 50-bed capacity and Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan performed the inauguration ceremony. He said bed facilities would be increased with the completion of new building. He said construction work would be completed in next week.
He informed that attendance of Outpatient Department (OPD) has increased from 1500 per day which was 600 per day in past. He said attendance would be increased in future with completion of project. He said project would be completed with cost Rs.1.5billion.
Dr Zaman said Government of Pakistan had requested the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) to help country for betterment health sector in 2011 and later a Japan-based team conducted survey of children hospital and started development work.
He said this project aims to provide advanced paediatric care in Karachi and the hospital would become a major children healthcare of Karachi city equipped with latest treatment facilities and skilled staff. He said poor people would get the best paediatric treatment facilities here in near future.
