KARACHI: Jam Sadiq Bridge in Korangi has been opened for vehicular traffic on Thursday after the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated the re-constructed bridge to facilitate large influx of traffic in Korangi industrial area.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Media Advisor of the Chief Minister Waqar Mehdi, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Administrator Karachi Sajjad Hussain Abbasi and other officers and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
The 1.2km two-lane bridge has been constructed with a cost of Rs221.7 million in seven months. It connects Korangi and Landhi to the rest of the city through Korangi Road.
This bridge also holds much importance for the industrialists and trader’s community of Landhi and Korangi. The government of Sindh has reconstructed it on their demand within a short time and now the bridge has been opened for vehicular traffic.
This should also be noted that all the traffic flux of industrial area had been diverted to Korangi Crossing from Brookes Chowrangi during the seven months of re-construction, which has greatly damaged the road running parallel to Jam Sadiq over Malir River.
Project Director Jam Sadiq Bridge Ibrahim Baloch had ensured that the other road would be repaired right after completion of Jam Sadiq Bridge.
