QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister NawabSanaullahZehri has called for completion of Western Route of CPEC and activating it would other routes. He said Corridor should not be taken as mere thoroughfare facility but there is need to connect industrial zones and special economic cones present structure besides developing natural resources.

He was addressing 7 th meeting of Joint Cooperation Committee in Islamabad Tuesday. Meeting was chaired by Federal minister DrAhsanIqbal and Chinese institution National Development and Reforms Commission Vice chairman Wang Zhia jointly.

Chief Ministers of other provinces, Prime minister of Azad Kashmir and experts and officers of two countries also attended.

Chief Minister said 70 percent of Balochistan population dwells in rural areas whose source of income is linked with agriculture and livestock. With development of these two sectors people of Balochistan can have better employment. He said Western route of CPEC would pass through 10 to 12 districts of Balochistan which would become big production centres. If these cities are development correctly it better economic results can be achieved. Highlighting importance of Quetta Mass Transit light rail project Chief Minister said population of provincial capital is about 2.3 million while city was expanding speedily. Large number of businessmen from Kuchlak, Mastung and surroundings come to Quetta daily. He said present railway track connects 6 national h highways with the city from north and south while major business centres, hospital, educational institutions and offices are located close to the track. He said with implementation of the proposed project of transit train numerous benefits would be accrued. Traffic pressure would be minimized and people would have cheap and modern facility of travelling.

Stressing upon need for resolving drinking water problem on priority basis in Gwadar Chief Minister said that desalination plant and supply of water from Mirani Dam by pipes can resolve this problem.

He hoped that inclusion of projects in CPEC projects and their timely completion would help people of Balochistan to take benefit from massive opportunities of development in the face of CPEC.
