QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said government would extend all cooperation for resolving problems of working journalists. Judicial commission comprising Judge High Court would be reviewed to investigate target killing of journalists. Journalists Welfare Fund created by Provincial government would be enhanced.
He was speaking to a delegation of office bearers of Balochistan Union of Journalists and senior journalists here Tuesday. Delegation was led by President BUJ Hamad.
Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Adviser on Finance Khalid Langav, Coordinator to Chief Minister Ahmed Jan, Khair Jan Baloch, Secretary Home Akbar Hussain Durrani, Principal Secretary Mohammad Naseem Lehri, Secretary Information Abdullah Jan and Director General Public Relations Kamran Asad were also present on the occasion.
Delegation held talks on problems confronting journalist especially payment of compensation to the relative s of journalists killed in target killings and constitution of judicial commission for investigation of incidents of target killing and other matters.
Chief Minister said government published report of Tutak Commission as it is and judicial report has also been made public in case of Irshad mastoid and his colleague. He said security of journalists and media houses and life and property of people is responsibility of the government and effective steps were underway in this connection.
He expressed satisfaction that target killers of Irshad mastoid and his colleagues have been arrested.
Chief Minister assured the delegation that Journalists Welfare Fund would be enhanced and a viable and acceptable media policy would be formed in the light of suggestions and recommendations of journalists to ensure security of rights of working journalists.
He also directed for finalizing matters about providing land for journalists residential scheme.
