Committee condemns incident of damaging mandirs


Islamabad: Standing committee on religious affairs and inter-faith harmony met under the chairmanship of Malik Abdul Ghaffar, MNA to discuss the performance of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).

The Committee unanimously passed a resolution condemning the incident of damaging 3 Mandirs in Kot Ghulam Muhammad, District Mir Pur Khas, Sindh by unidentified persons.

The Committee termed it an attempt to ruin the feelings of all Hindu Community and recommended that Ministry may take up the issue at appropriate forum for the proper investigation so that culprits could be penalized accordingly.

The Committee expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of Evacuee Trust Property Board as the income of said Board was being utilized for other proposes instead of the welfare of the minorities.

The Committee also expressed concern over the non-inclusion of any elected Member from the Minority and proposed that Mr. Lal Chand Malhi, MNA may be included in its board.

The Committee also directed the ministry to provide District wise detail of the property owned by ETPB along with its revenue generated from the said properties to the Committee before the next meeting.

The following MNAs, Sahibzada Faiz-ul-Hassan, Mr. Bhawan Das, Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli, Ms. Shahida Akhtar Ali, Mr. Ramesh Lal, Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Mr. Lal Chand Malhi, Bismillah Khan, Molvi Agha Muhammad MNAs, attended the meeting.
