KARACHI: A policeman was killed and another injured in an encounter with terrorists in Karachi’s Gulzar-i-Hijri area on Monday. However, a suspected militant belonging to Ansar-ul-Sharia Pakistan managed to flee, the police and rescue said.
A police team, along with intelligence officials, raided Gulzar-i-Hijri area’s Kaneez Fatima Society, where an encounter with terrorists took place. In the shootout for some time, a policeman, Ejaz Ali, was killed and another injured. However, a suspected militant, Sarosh Siddiqui, managed to flee.
The body and the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy and treatment, respectively.
Police have reportedly taken Siddiqui’s father, Sajjad, into their custody. They also claimed to have arrested Ansarul Sharia Karachi chapter’s spokesperson from the Defence area on Sajjad’s indication, the police said.[related_post themes="text" id="320171"]
