QUETTA: To free Balochistan of polio is important responsibility of provincial government and effective measures were being adopted to eliminate this fatal disuse. All the teams included in anti polio drive would be provided full security.
This was stated by Balochistan chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha while chairing a meeting to review anti polio campaign here Saturday. Meeting also reviewed preparations of drive and effective security for polio workers.
Secretary Health Noorul Haq Baloch and representatives of UNICEF and WHO were also present.
Chief Secretary said to make polio drive successful role of all the people from all walks of life is necessary. It is also responsibility of parents to feed anti polio drops to their children so that they are saved from permanent disability and lead life of healthy citizen.
He directed that no lapse would be tolerated during the campaign because we have to save our tomorrow today.
Chief Secretary also reviewed matters regarding Kachhi Canal and Mirani Dam.
Meeting was told that first phase of Kachhi Canal sprawls over 397 Km. Of this 300 Km is in Punjab and 97 in Balochistan. Work on 37 Km of first phase of Baluchistan’s 97 Km was underway which would be completed shortly. It would irrigate 57 thousand acres of land while from next 60 Km would irrigate 45 thousand agri land and by December this year water would be released in the canal.
Chief Secretary Directed that pace of work should be accelerated so that project is completed in time to the benefit of people. He also directed for providing security to the people working on the project.
About Mirani Dam Chief Secretary said that affectees of this dam would be paid compensation money shortly.
