Karachi: Voice Against Corruption President Ahsan Bari Advocate has deplored passage of a bill from the Sindh Assembly to curtail the powers of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
In a statement here Tuesday, he said it is a pity that the ruling party is covertly promoting corruption in the province of Sindh. He said that the apex courts should take a suo moto notice of the matter and stop the dark conspiracy to save notoriously corrupt politicians and their cronies.
He said the legal fraternity should play their due role in this regard and challenge this bill in the courts of law. He said the provinces get a major chunk of funds from the federal government and who would monitor that these funds are not misused by the corrupt political leaders at the provincial level. He said similarly the funds of international lender and donor agencies come through the federal government and curtailing the powers of NAB would caste a negative effect on this process.
He asked the ruling stakeholders to reconsider their policies and curtail corruption instead of sheltering and promoting it.[related_post themes="text" id="316723"]
