Death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto observed

SIALKOT: The death anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed was observed here Saturday with solemnity in Sialkot district.

The Quran Khawani was held at Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Uggoki, Pasrur, Badiana, Chawinda and surrounding areas during the severe cold and dense foggy weather.

A larger number of the local party workers including local PPP leaders Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan (former federal minister), Tahir Mehmood Hundali (former MPA), Malik Tahir Akhtar Awan (President PPP Sialkot District), Khawaja Awais Mushtaq Advocate, Haji Mushtaq Ahmed Mughal, Mohammad Yousaf Khilji and Ch. Zahid Bashir attended special prayers held there for the eternal peace of the departed soul. They paid rich tributes to the BB for her sacrifice of life for democracy in the country.

Later, addressing the party workers here, the PPP stalwart and former federal information minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the PPP will continue its struggle for the sustainable democracy, judiciary and the supremacy of law.

She said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was a hope of success and a sign of marvelous confidence, courage and success for the female politicians and party workers. She said BB gave sacrifice of her life while struggling against the dictatorship following the footsteps of her father Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for purging the country from the remains of dictatorship.

She said that the PPP government had fulfilled its all the public promises, besides making some effective and positive steps for the early provision of all the basic facilities to the people at their door steps.

She said that eradication of lawlessness, terrorism, militancy, price hike and poverty alleviation was the mission and top priority of the PPP. She said this was need of the hour that all political parties of the country should be united and shun their political differences for the welfare of the people.
