KARACHI: All Auto CNG rickshaws Welfare Association with support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi division Monday held protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club on against Sindh government for showing un-seriousness to resolve the problem of CNG and Chingchi rickshaw owners.
The demonstrators, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against the government’s negligence for making problem more complex.
A senior PTI leader Subhan Ali Sahil said Sindh government is responsible to deprive the people of basic facilities. He said due to ban of CNG rickshaws, 0.5million people had become jobless. He said imposing ban on Chingchies and CNG rickshaws only in Karachi is amounts to leads people towards the destitution.
Sahil said the ride, which provides commuters cheapest charm of fire and supporting their hundreds families, are depriving from their basic way of earning.
He said He warned Government that if their problems could not resolve than they would extend their protest.
The association Chairman Parvez Ahmed said the government is directly responsible of a driver who committed suicide due to his become jobless. He said not providing easiest and feasible travelling assistance in such international city, confirms the negligence of government.
On the other hand Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi and CNG rickshaws association jointly held a protest demonstration, demanding the regularization of the CNG rickshaws.
Addressing the protests, held at Nagan Chowrangi on Monday the speakers said that the Chief Minister House would be besieged, if the issues of poor rickshaw drivers and millions of commuters could not resolve.
Highlighting the miseries of commuters, the JI leaders said that more than a million people have been affected by the ban on some 60, 000 Chingchi rickshaws, and while at other hand the government so far is unable to run a fleet of even two dozen busses.
Chingchi rickshaw association leaders said that the court had not banned the rickshaws but ordered the concern authorities to regularize and issue permit for the rickshaws. They vowed to obey the court orders and also asked the police to do so.
They demanded of the government to release 10, 000 rickshaws, bounded by the traffic police in recent few weeks.
The speakers said that the government is not serious in mitigating the miseries of people neither it was intended to resolve the problems of 60, 000 CNG rickshaw owners and other people associated with them.
