Demo held against killing of woman


NAUNDERO: The heirs and relatives of the 18-year-old woman, Raheela Jeho, who was allegdly killed two days ago allegedly by her husband by forcing her to drink poison-mixed drink and dragging her like a dog, held a protest demonstration and blocked Larkana-Sukkur road near Naundero Sugar Mill here on Sunday evening.

They were keeping the body of the victim woman and demanding immediate arrest of the accused, including Sonal Jeho, husband of the deceased woman and others. The protesters were chanting slogans whil holding the Holy Book on their heads. Rukhsana and father Mohammad Bux Jeho said that police had refused to lodge FIR.

The parents of deceased woman said that this shows that police will side with the accused after getting huge bribe and accused will be set free as they are very influential. They said that accused Sonal Jeho also killed his first wife Basraan Jeho six months back on the pretext of Kari as he found her talking on cell phone with her cousin Nadim Jeho but he was never taken to task as they added he came out within three months with the favour of police and then started threatening Nadim Jeho for Jirga or else he will kill him.

The Jirga was held in which it was proved that Nadim was Karo. The jirga imposed a fine of Rs 2,50,000 and marriage of Sonal with the daughter of Nadim’s brother Mohammad Bux. They further narrated their tale that Mohammad Bux Jeho gave his one daughter Raheela to Sonal and sold his another daughter Farzana in Rs 2,50,000 to pay the fine amount and to save his brother’s life.

Sonal’s Nikah was held at a mosque where he was also paid the fine amount. They said and added that the accused did not come for Rukhsati and just sent a woman for that purpose and Raheela’s unique Rukhsati was made without her groom.

SHO Ketty Mumtaz PS Nisar Brohi said that three accused, including her husband Sonal & his uncle Roshan Jeho have been arrested but police sources said that Roshan Jeho has been allowed to go home despite nominated in the FIR. The aged parents apprehended that all the accused will be favoured by the police depriving them of due justice. They demanded lodging of their own FIR and proper investigation through honest high police officers.
