Dengue patient dies in Karachi


KARACHI: A dengue patient died in a private hospital of Karachi on Tuesday, raising the death toll from dengue viral fever to four in ongoing year.

Provincial Program Manager Dengue Prevention & Control Program Sindh Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi confirmed that a 27-year old man, resident of North Nazimabad area of Karachi died from dengue fever late Monday night in a private hospital. He said identity of patient could not be revealed due to privacy matter.

He informed that a total four patients have died of dengue viral fever since 1st January 2015; two victims were male and two other female.

He said at least 339 dengue viral cases were reported across the Sindh province from 28 September to 04 October, out of which 330 detected from Karachi alone, while four were reported from Mirpurkhas, two from Umerkot, and one each from Sukkur, Larkana and Ghotki.

He said a total 2071 dengue fever cases were reported from Sindh province from 1st January 2015 to till time, out of which 2017 were detected from Karachi city.

He said out of total 2071 dengue fever reported cases, 2017 were reported from Karachi, 18 from Hyderabad, nine from Larkana, six from Mirpurkhas, five from Umer Kot, four from Shaheed Benazirabad, three each from Sukkur, Thatta & Ghotki, one each from Sanghar, Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
