SIALKOT: General public including civil and social society, religious circles, NGOs and CSOs observed Sunday as a ‘Protest Day’ against the publication of blasphemous caricatures in the French magazine.
The Ulema strongly condemned this immoral practice, besides passing several condemnation resolutions, in this regard. They announced to take out rallies in all the urban and rural areas of Sialkot district to condemn this non-sense act.
Thousands of activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Shabab-e-Milli, participated in peaceful rallies taken out in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Bhopalwala, Uggoki, Pasrur, Badiana, Chawinda and surrounding areas. Local Ulema led the rallies.
The protesters holding banners and placards were chanting slogans against the French magazine’s management.
Addressing the participants, local Ulema strongly condemned this practice by the French magazine. They urged the government to raise the issue at the international level.
They criticized the West for carrying out and encouraging blasphemous acts. They urged the government of Pakistan to redefine its relations with France in the backdrop of an increase in nasty incidents hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslims.
The Ulema appealed the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) to raise the issue at the relevant forums. They also passed several condemnation resolutions, in this regard.
