SIALKOT: There were 13 million victims of hepatitis in Pakistan and the number of the hepatitis patients was rising here, as every tenth person was the hepatitis carriers in Pakistan, while the ratio of deaths caused by the hepatitis was much more than the ratio of deaths causes by the malaria and typhoid in the Asian countries.
Chief Consultant Social Security Hospital Dr. Ammar Kaleem and Dr. Fawad Iqbal Janjua disclosed this while addressing an anti hepatitis awareness-raising seminar here on Tuesday.
They said quacks were spreading hepatitis rapidly in Pakistan by using their rusting and reused surgical instruments, repeatedly using the syringes and due to insufficient measures of blood transfer.
They expressed grave concern over this situation and said that this practice was still going unchecked unabatedly, which had been playing with the precious lives of the innocent people. They urged the government to ensure the stern legal action against the quacks to halt the rapid growth of hepatitis in the country.
Medical Superintendent Social Security Hospital Dr. Syed Ejaz Hussain Kazmi, Deputy MS Dr. Tayyub Sarwar Mir , Dr. Irfan Baig and Dr. Saima Rafiq also spoke in the seminar and gave awareness about the preventive and anti-hepatitis measures , saying the people could also control the spread of hepatitis by ensuring the timely implementation of all the preventive steps, in this regard.
