ECB approaches SHC regarding recovery from Kaneria


KARACHI: England Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) to help them for recovering Rs39million from a banned Pakistani leg spinner Danish Prabha Shankar Kaneria.

In this regard, the ECB lawyer Khawaja Naveed filed a petition in SHC seeking the court’s help for recovering almost Rs 39 million from Kaneria as he was banned and fined by ECB in 2012.

The ECB disciplinary committee banned Kaneria for life in 2012 to take part in cricket all over the world after founding him guilty of spot fixing. A committee found him guilty of corruption in a match in which he was representing English county, Essex, in 2009.

Kaneria was asked to pay the fine amount £ 10 million as well as additional cost incurred over the case which totally becomes £ 249,000.

Banned leg spinner lost his last appeal against life ban imposed by ECB from United Kingdom’s commercial court in 2014.
