Eight die as train hit truck at Tando Adam


Karachi/ Tando Adam: At least eight people including a woman died and five others injured when a train hit a truck at on open railway crossing at Tando Adam on Monday morning.

According to details, a truck carrying labours was crossing an open railway crossing at Muneer Sepio area, when Lahore-bound Ghulam Fareed Express hit it. As a result eight people died on the spot and five others injured who were moved to different hospitals of Tando Adam and Hyderabad. All the deceased and injured belonging to a labour family of Village Darya Khan Nahiyoon was going to work.

However, the Sindh assembly members raised this issue on the floor of the House and demanded that all open railway crossings in Sindh should be gated to secure innocent human lives.

However, DS Karachi Railway Nisar Ahmed Memon along with a team visited the site of incident near Allah Dino Sand railway station. A statement issued by the Pakistan Railways Karachi Division media cell said that no negligence of the railways was found in the incident.

However, sadly dozens of railway crossing in Sindh are without proper gates. Moreover dozens of innocent people died only in Karachi, as the Pakistan Railways have failed to erect protective barriers along its main railway line passing through the city from the City Railway Station to the Jumma Goth Railway station. The citizens of Karachi have repeatedly demanded of the minister of railways Khawaja Saad Rafique to erect protective walls and barriers along this killer railway line of Karachi but in vain.
