KARACHI: Renowned Hematologist Dr Saqib Hussain Ansari on Wednesday said one pint of blood can save three lives and every healthy person can donate blood after three months which will put positive impact on that person’s body.
He shared these views during a meeting with representatives of blood banks came from Lahore at his office. In-charge Umair Sana Laboratory Mohammad Akbar, Imtiaz Malik and other were also present.
Dr Ansari stressed the need of introducing high-quality centralized blood banking system in Pakistan as non-existence of comprehensive blood banking causing various problems. He said thalassaemia children depend on blood transfusion but unfortunately voluntarily blood donation trend is not encouraging in the country.
He said thalassaemia cases have gone up sharply in the country due poor health infrastructure which is alarming. He emphasized the need of promoting voluntarily blood donation culture in the country. He said a healthy person can donate blood after every three months as one pint of blood can save three lives.
