Five alleged Lashkar-e-Jhangvi activists remanded to police

KARACHI: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday remanded five alleged Lashkar-e-Jhangvi activists to police custody till 6 January 2015 in police encounter cases.

Police produced all the accused, Mohammad Nasir, Imran Khan, Sher Ali Afridi, Azam and Arif Ali Khan before ATC judge under tight security.

Investigation officer requested the court that police needed their physical custody to map out their connections and their other activities in the crime. The court accepted the police request and remanded all the accused to their custody till 6 January.

According to prosecution, all the accused were arrested after an encounter on 29 December in Ittihad Town. The police claimed to have recovered illegal arms and hand grenades from accused possession.
