FO: (Indian Defence Minister’s statement a matter of concern for entire World: FO)


ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office has said that Indian Defence Minister’s statement on sponsoring terrorism should be a matter of concern not only for Pakistan but the entire world.

Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah in his weekly news briefing here on Thursday said that Pakistan is the biggest victim of terrorism and has suffered more than any other country in the world.

He said Pakistan has lost more than fifty thousand lives and suffered economic losses to the tune of hundred billion dollars. He said Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestation. He said Pakistan will take all appropriate steps required to protect our national interest.

To questions, he said Pakistan is committed to have good neighbourly relations with all neighbours including India. He said this is the vision of Prime Minister and we are pursuing it with all sincerity.

He said they are aware that Indian media is carrying out campaign against Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, which is not a positive thing. He said the Corridor is beneficial for the whole region and Pakistan and China are committed to execute the project.

He said Pakistan, Afghanistan and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees are working closely to devise a timeline for return of Afghan refugees. He said Pakistan desired peace and stability in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan supports Afghan led and Afghan owned peace process.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his recent visit to Afghanistan has made it categorically clear that enemies of Afghanistan are enemies of Pakistan. He said we are committed to enhance ties with Afghanistan in different fields. He said comprehensive investigations are going on into Axact and FIA team’s visit to US embassy yesterday was in that context. He said Ministry of Interior has asked for cooperation of US authorities in this regard.

He said that there is no footprints of IS in Pakistan and our security agencies are alert to take any action, if required. He said they had issued statement on death sentence given to former Egyptian President Morsi and hundred others based on international recognised principles.

He underscored that the relations between people of Pakistan and people of Egypt are deep rooted and expressed the confidence that existed ties between the two countries would be further strengthened in the days to come.
