Former IGs meet to elect new AFIGP office-bearers
KARACHI: A meeting of Association of Former Inspector Generals of Police (AFIGP) was held in Karachi to elect the officer-bearers of the Sindh chapter of the association. The AFIGP was established and registered in May 2017 in Islamabad.
The stated objectives of the association are: to render expert advice and services for the professional development of police organizations; assist in fostering police cooperation, unity of action and the exchange of information and experience among police officers; work for fair, efficient and accountable policing; act as an independent think-tank for promoting criminal justice reform; suggest ways for promoting police- public harmony and cooperation; and promote measures for police welfare.
The participants included retired IGPs Asad Jahangir Khan, Wajid Ali Khan, Dr Shoaib Siddle, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Kamal Uddin Tipu, Mirza Saud Ahmad, Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Syed Nayyar Husnain, SS Babar Khattak, Waseem Ahmed, Azhar Ali Farooqi, Akhtar Hussain Memon, Asad Ashraf Malik and Tariq Jamil.
Aftab Nabi, Azhar Ali Farooqi and Syed Nayyar Hasnain were elected as President, Vice President and General Secretary respectively of the Sind Chapter of AFIGP. Niaz Siddiqui, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Saud Mirza and Waseem Ahmed were elected Executive members. IGP Sind AD Khowaja and CCPO Karachi Mushtaq Mahar met the new office-bearers and assured the association that Sind Police would actively seek the advice of former and retired IGPs for the professional development of Sind Police.[related_post themes="text" id="322619"]
