Islamabad: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the government is taking appropriate measures for elimination of poverty from the country.
He was talking to British High Commissioner Philip Barton in Islamabad on Wednesday. Ishaq Dar said the Prime Minister has announced special schemes for the youth, which will help reduce poverty and improve the economy. During the meeting, both sides discussed matters relating to bilateral cooperation particularly the economic cooperation.
Ishaq Dar said the government will continue its reform agenda for the welfare of the people. The High Commissioner said the visit of the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister to United Kingdom had a very positive impact on enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
He said the business meeting in London provided an opportunity to stock markets and fund managers to know about the development taking place in Pakistan. Country Head of Department for International Development (DFID) Richard Montgomery, who accompanied the High Commissioner discussed issues related to aid from UK and social safety programmes.
