KARACHI: IGP Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali on Thursday directed police to take effective extraordinary steps to ensure security on the occasion of Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary.
He said that strict surveillance should be conducted at entrance and exit routes leading to Garhi Khuda Baksh Bhutto and Sindh. The patrolling along highways and link roads should be enhanced with snap checking, while posting of active police officers should be ensured at the posts along highways.
Jamali said that parking would be established at a suitable distance around the graveyard of Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and deployment of police at the parking site would be ensured along technical sweeping and clearance.
Except handling all the security issues, supervisory officers of the relevant police station on all the central routes would keep a strict vigil on suspected elements and activities as well.
The IGP said intelligence collection and sharing would be made stronger and more effective. In this regard, plain clothed police would be deployed in Garhi Khuda Baksh and adjacent areas.
