KARACHI: Terming the federal government’s Rs25billion special package for Karachi insufficient, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) city chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman on Tuesday reiterated their demand for Rs500billion for the city’s rebuilding.
In a statement issued here, Hafiz Naeem said that the Metropolitan faces huge and elderly issues that cannot be resolved with just Rs 25 billion, rather, Rs500 billion is needed to rebuild its infrastructure which has been destroyed.
The JI also demanded of the government to complete mega projects of city including Mass Transit Program, Karachi Circular Railway and K-IV. Besides, the ruined sewerage system and construction of all main roads should also be carried out, Hafiz Naeem said.
While criticizing Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the JI city chief said that the people are questioning the deal held between ‘pseudo owners’ of Karachi and the federal government. He said that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party led Sindh government and ‘so called representatives of Karachi’ have failed miserably in solving their problems.[related_post themes="text" id="319213"]
