JI slams cancellation of Goth leases


KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Naib Amir Asadullah Bhutto on Thursday condemned the action of Sindh government to cancel the lease of 70 villages of Karachi including Bhittaiabad and demanded that the notice regarding lease cancellation should taken back immediately.

Meeting with delegation of affected villagers, he said there is no justification for cancelling the lease of 70 villages. He said the government wants to give this precious land to corrupt mafia. He said the sitting rulers are supporting and protecting land mafias and to appease them are cancelling the lease of villages.

He said his party, JI, will not leave alone the affected villagers and would struggle for the protection of their houses.

He said PPP has been enjoying government for last 7 years in Sindh with the help of poor peoples’ votes but it is also cancelling the lease of their Goths and depriving the villagers of shelter, which is a shameful act.

However, JI Karachi District East chapter Amir Yunus Barai said it is injustice with the villagers of 70 goaths to cancel their lease, adding due to this the villagers have been facing agony. He said there is anger and restlessness in the affected village. He said JI will play its role for protection of affected villagers’ rights.
