JI urges govt to table bill for strict accountability

Islamabad: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has urged the government to bring a bill for a true accountability and said the JI would fully support that.

Speaking in the Senate on Wednesday, he said that unless and until the institutions were strengthened as against individuals and certain families, corruption would continue to spread. He said that the abuse of power was also corruption.

Sirajul Haq said that all those who had set off- shore companies and had devouring bank loans be brought to accountability without any discrimination and steps be taken for retrieving the public money.

The JI chief said that the mafias ruling the country for the last seventy years had made the country’s politics and democracy their hostage. He said the JI wanted democracy to gain strength but the ruling elite considered politics their house maid and did not allow the poor to enter politics.

Sirajul Haq said that the solution of the country’s problems lay in the system given by the holy Quran and the Sunnah. He said that the country could not achieve self-sufficiency during the last seventy years. Instead, huge loans were obtained from the IMF on heavy interest rate.

He said that around 25 million children were out of schools while a large majority of the people did not get basic facilities of education and health. He said it was high time that the political parties developed a system of intern accountability and no cheat or plunderer was tolerated in any political set.
