Karachi hospitals asked to establish dengue wards


KARACHI: Secretary Health Sindh Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo on Thursday directed all medical superintendents and heads of public hospitals of Karachi to establish 10-beded Isolation Ward for dengue viral fever patients on immediate basis.

This he said while presiding over a high level meeting to review to dengue situation in the city held at Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) Sindh here.

Director Health Karachi Dr Zafar Ejaz, Provincial Program Manager, Dengue Prevention & Control Program Sindh, Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi, Medical Superintendents of hospitals, Town Health Officers and other high ups also attended the meeting.

Saeed Mangnejo directed the all authorities concerned of department to adopt comprehensive strategy eliminate dengue mosquito to prevent people from viral fever. He further directed the heads of public hospitals to share data of dengue cases to EDO health Karachi on regular basis.

He stressed the need coordinated efforts to combat with dengue. He said all medical facilities including kits will be provided to hospitals for timely diagnoses of disease.

Eelier, Provincial Program Manager, Dengue Prevention & Control Program Sindh, Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi briefed the participants of meeting about current dengue situation in the city and steps have been taken program management to handle situation.
