Karachi: K-Electric has earned the Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Awards for the fifth time at the eighth International CSR Summit. The event was organized by the National forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) in collaboration with Shahid Afridi Foundation, Pakistan Water Partnership and Open Karachi. The award marked the recognition of those organizations that have made extraordinary contributions in the society through CSR initiatives.
KE received an award for excellence in ‘Social Impact’ category. The award is an acknowledgement for its on-going commitment towards community at large, especially in the areas of energy conservation as well as health and youth development.
KE under its Social Investment Program empowers welfare partners by facilitating them through free/ subsidized electricity and System enhancement projects. The impact of this initiative is over 3.4 million individuals annually.
In calamities like fire incidents, bomb blasts and heat wave accidents, KE has always stepped forward as the only corporate entity to provide support to victims of these tragic events by waving off their outstanding bills and empowering the hospitals to tackle the emergency situations.
Commenting on the occasion, KE’s spokesperson said, “We are delighted to receive this award. As a corporate entity, we believe that it is our responsibility to be beneficial for the community and help it grow economically.”
Around 60 leading national and international companies including K-Electric, Engro, Samsung, Adamjee, NBP, Bank Alfalah, Bayer, Parco, PSO and the Dawn Media Group received awards for their commendable performance in 30 different categories of Corporate Social Responsibility during past one year.
