SHIKARPUR: MPA Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, the central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and the Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan, on Wednesday strongly opposed the statement delivered by Khuwaja Asif Ali, the Federal Minister for Water and Power, for redesigning and construction of Kalabagh Dam with consensus of all the provinces, despite the fact that the Kalabagh Dam issue had unanimously been rejected by three of the provinces of the country through the resolutions passed in their provincial assemblies with mutual consensus. He said that there was no need of time to put oxygen to ‘dead horse Kalabagh Dam’ issue which he termed a attack on Sindh which would never be allowed.
However, he advised Punjab leaders to avoid hatching such conspiracies for construction of Kalabagh Dam which are against the interests of three provinces including Sindh. On the other hand, Shaikh while addressing the public meetings held at various Wards in Shikarpur on Wednesday accused the PPP rulers of depriving the people of their basic fundamental, democratic and constitutional rights on one side and on the other side. He said that the PPP government did nothing for well being of the masses and due to its bad governance and sick services, the people of the province were badly been facing the unbearable problems including lawlessness, corruption, unemployment, price hike.
