Peshawar: Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Cabinet on Wednesday approved amendments in Accountability Commission Act 2014 and now lower judiciary would not grant bail to any accused.
The cabinet that was chaired by Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak also approved other amendments according to which Accountability Commission Act 2014 with all amendments will deemed to be implemented from 2004.
Under the amended law no demotion could be made in the sentence of any accused once the court award sentence however High Court and Supreme Court would have the right to grant bail to any of the accused. According to the amended act any place could be declared police station and sub jail.
Under the amended law the court will decide the case within three months and case will not be adjourned for more than seven days and hearing in the case will be conduct on daily basis.
Similarly Cabinet also approved certain amendments in Local Government Act 2013 and now District Nazim and District Naib Nazim will be elected on majority votes and incase no one is elected in the first round, 2nd round will be held between the first and 2nd number candidates. In case the council failed to elect Nazim and Naib Nazim in three rounds to be held within three months the district and town councils will automatically stands dissolved.
Cabinet also approved regularization of EPI staff (GAVI) Global Alliance for Vaccination and Immunization for which bill will be introduced in Khyber Pukhunkhwa assembly. The cabinet also approved to give power of commercial license to Transport department however police would be authorized to issue non-commercial license till 30th October 2016 after which it will hand over the power to transport department.
