ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday said the government has included Nutrition project in the current PSDO to address malnutrition issue in the country.
He said the project aims to benefit the people Islamabad, FATA, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the federal government will act as a role model for all the provinces to follow its footsteps in removing this deficiency in the country that has been causing adverse impacts on the health of children particularly.
He made these remarks while speaking with the delegation of Nestle Pakistan, which called on him at Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform. The delegation appraised the minister about its Health Kid Project.
Ahsan Iqbal stated, “Nutrition is a key area envisaged in Vision-2025 because nutrition is directly linked to overall development of the country. Stunted children can’t be productive lot to lead the country towards economic development”.
About the project of Nestle, the minister said that the organization can join hands with the ministry and form a coalition with it to address malnutrition problem.
He asked that organization to include Danish Schools and model public school in each district in the campaign against malnutrition and also communicate the messages in regional languages to target the masses. He underlined the need to sensitize the parents about malnutrition issue because it can be more helpful to obtain the desired results.
