KARACHI: Provincial Health minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Monday said dengue has become a global problem and it has also gripped Pakistan with an unprecedented intensity in last few years.
This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office. Secretary Health Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, DG health Dr Murad Hasan Shah and Dengue Control Program In-charge Dr Masood Solangi also attended the meeting.
He said that there was a dire need that all departments concerned to coordinate to eradicate dengue and proper fumigation could eliminate dengue. He said mass awareness can help reduce the menace of dengue and funds have been released to make the drive effective.
Secretary Health Dr Saeed Ahmed said that all deputy commissioners of the province had been directed to cooperate in the drive against dengue and the department had provided dengue diagnostic kits and mega units platelets.
Dr Masood Solangi briefed the meeting about achievements and problems and said that 20 hospitals were reporting to Dengue Prevention and Control Program about number of patients. He also informed that Dengue Surveillance Cells had been established in all districts of Sindh that reported on daily basis.
