MQM flays arrests of its workers, supporters


KARACHI: Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement on Wednesday strongly condemned the arbitrary arrests of party workers and supporters by the police and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in Gharibabad area of Liaquatabad.

In a statement, the coordination committee said that the LEAs arbitrarily arrested number of party workers and supporters throughout the city. It said that on Tuesday morning, the police and rangers personnel seized Liaquatabad area and arrested various workers and supporters, including a 13-year-old minor Mohsin and a 70-year-old elder Qamaruddin.

The committee said that in guise of Karachi-operation, MQM was being targeted and tried to be maligned by the political discourse. It demanded to immediately stop arbitrarily arresting of MQM’s workers and supporters and implicating them in the fake cases.
