NA defers MQM, JUI-F resolutions against PTI


ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Tuesday deferred two resolutions moved by MQM and JUI-F members seeking that the house declare seats of 28 PTI members who remained absent for 40 consecutive days vacant till next private members day.

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that they wanted to resolve the issue with consensus. The chair deferred the resolutions.

Earlier, on a point order, Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said that the issue of resignations of PTI members should not be prolonged and should be decided once and for all.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said two resolutions regarding deseating 28 PTI members are on the agenda of Tuesday and demanded that these should not be deferred and a decision should be taken in this regard.

He said demands were made that PTI members should come to Parliament and play their role. He said they have accepted the decision of the Judicial Commission. He said we should go forward leaving these petty issues behind.

Jamshed Dasti and Sahibzada Tariqullah urged JUI-F and MQM to withdraw their resolutions for the sake of democracy. MQM members Asif Hasnain, Kanwar Naveed Jamil and Rashid Godil said this is not a petty issue and should be resolved according to the law and the Constitution.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar laid before the House the report of Inquiry Commission constituted to probe into the alleged rigging in general elections 2013 for discussion. He also laid before the House the agreement regarding constitution of the Inquiry Commission.
