NA: (Mayor Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation meets NA Speaker, Deputy Speaker)

ISLAMABAD: Mayor Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation called on the Speaker and Deputy Speaker National Assembly separately here at Parliament House on Wednesday.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq congratulated Shiekh Ansar Aziz on his election as Mayor of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation. He said his election was an evidence of trust and confidence of Party leadership and elected representatives of the Corporation.

He said Metropolitan Corporation could play a significant role in resolving the civic issues confronted by citizen of Islamabad. He expressed his confidence that under sagacious leadership of Sheikh Ansar Aziz the Capital territory will become a model city for the rest of the country. He assured his all out support to the chosen representatives of the civic body.

The Deputy Speaker in his meeting with the Mayor also congratulated him on his election. He expressed the hope that Sheikh Ansar Aziz would come up to the expectations of the citizen of Islamabad.

He said it was the first ever local body elections held in the capital territory and it would require a lot of handwork to initiate the metropolitan operations from the beginning.

He added that the rural areas surrounding the city needed special attention for development. He urged the newly elected mayor to provide facilitations and ensure proper registration of people relocating from different parts of the country. He extended his best wishes to the newly elected representatives and leadership of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation.

The newly elected Mayor thanked the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker for expressing their confidence and assured them that he would make all possible efforts to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted by people of Islamabad and to address the difficulties faced by them.

He said governing the capital would be a difficult task but he and his team would take every measure to address those challenges under the guidance of the visionary leadership of PML-N.
