NAB files reference against additional Secretary, DG Energy and 11 others for Rs 107 m embezzlement

QUETTA: Nab Balochistan has filed reference against the eleven accused including the than Additional Secretary Energy Department and DG Energy department for embezzlement of Rs 107.01 million.

Accused in connivance with each other caused huge loss to the national exchequer by awarding contracts of installing Solar Home System at Zhob, Musa Khail and some other parts of Balochistan to fake companies.

It was revealed during the investigation carried out by senior Investigation Officer Imran Shaikh that the than Secretary Energy Department Manzoor Ahmed, Director General Energy Department Nusratullah Baloch awarded 11 contract of purchasing and installing solar systems to two fake companies namely Long Life Energy System owned by Asad Ali and Solar Field NZ and co owned by Asif Ali Faiz.

It was further unearthed that the companies awarded the solar projects was neither registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council nor the certificates provided by them were genuine. Moreover the said company did not have experience in installing Home Solar System.

The investigation into the case concluded that main accused; DG Energy Nusratullah Baloch in connivance with others illegally awarded 11 contracts to two firms on favour causing huge loss to the national kitty.

Having gathered irrefutable proofs, the reference was filed against eleven accused including Additional Secretary, DG and Assistant Electric Inspector energy department government of Balochistan with the accountability Court.
