Oath taking of All Pakistan Universities Officers Federation
Karachi: The whole society has their eyes on varsities because the varsities play a vital role in societal development.
These views were expressed by Karachi University (KU) Registrar Prof. Dr. Majid Mumtaz at the Oath Taking Ceremony of All Pakistan Universities Officers Federation jointly hosted by Karachi University Officers Welfare Association and Sindh Universities Officers Welfare Association at HEJ Auditorium, KU.
He said the KU administration is resolving the issues of KU employees according to rules and regulations.
A letter has been issued for the election of officers’ representative in the syndicate and soon election dates will be announced, he said.
He congratulated the newly appointed members of the federation and hoped that the federation will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the rights of officers.
Mohammad Tahir Khan took oath as Chairman, Mohammad Ilyas as General Secretary, Mohammad Abbas as Vice Chairman, Murad Pirzada as Deputy General Secretary, Mukhtiar Ahmed as Joint Secretary, Mohammad Ramzan as Deputy Joint Secretary and Ata Mohammad Gormani as Press Secretary.
Presidents and General Secretaries of Pakistani varsities will be the members of Executive Council.
Chairman All Pakistan Universities Officers Federation Mohammad Tahir Khan said that the major purpose of forming All Pakistan Universities Officers Federation is to address the grievances and safeguarding service rights of all officers of all Pakistani varsities. We need to strengthen our institutions and struggle for our rights under legal framework. Another purpose of the federation is to bridge the gap among the officers of the varsities of the country. All the policies of officers must be implemented uniformly in every varsity.
Peshwar University’s Mohammad Ejaz said that federation will strive for the rights of deprived class of officers. We must focus on improve the level of education rather only awarding degrees.
Punjab University’s Chaudhary Iftikhar said that officers play the role of backbone in the progress of varsities; they will continue to do so.
