Karachi: Pakistan cricket team will miss spinner Yasir Shah in upcoming Asia Cup and World T20 Championship feels former chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu.
“Pakistan has no other ‘wristy’ spinner and I think he will be missed by Team Pakistan in Asia Cup and World T20 Championship,” Sallu told.
He reiterated that ODI skipper Azhar Ali also makes use of the wrist but since he is not a full-time spinner and as dangerous as Yasir, the later would be missed in the two big events.
However, he added that Pakistan Super League has brought two other spinners – Mohammad Asghar and Mohammad Nawaz, one of who could take Yasir’s place. “But still they will lack Yasir’s experience,” Sallu added.
Yasir Shah has been suspended for three-month period from cricket action by ICC after he was found guilty of taking prohibited drug mistakenly. His ban will end on March 27, which means he will miss Asia Cup and much of World T20 Championship before getting eligible to play cricket.
