Patients suffer as CHK elevator goes out of order


KARACHI: The patients suffering from different diseases have been facing hardships as elevator of the four-storey building of Civil Hospital Karachi is out of order since last one week.

The shifting of patients from emergency to other departments have become difficult for attendants. Hundreds of patients of Kidney, Surgical Ward 3,4,5, Plastic Surgery, Gynaecology Ward 1 to 3 and newly established Intestine Ward have been facing hardships due to fault in elevator.

The shifting of patients from one floor to another through stairs has become much difficult for attendants and volunteers, complained an attendant.

The visiting patients and attendants have demanded of the hospital administration to provide early repairing of elevator.

Additional Medical Superintendent (General) CHK Abdul Qadir Siddiqui, when contacted, said elevator’s panel was out of order for the last few days and administrating had contacted with company who had installed the elevator for its early repairing.

He informed that there was no shortage of fund for repairing of elevator and hoped that elevator would be made functional within two or three days.
